Hip Articulations
Snake Arms
Shimmies
Walking Steps
Rib Cage Movements
Figure 8s and Hip Circles

Although there is no materials fee, students are advised to purchase Language of the Dance as a study companion to both classes.

Class Attire

You are expected to wear proper dance class attire. This includes leotards, unitards, bike shorts & sports bras, cholis, fitted tank tops, yoga pants, harem pants, and dance skirts. Regular street attire is not recommended -- this includes sweat pants, loose t-shirts, jeans, anything baggy or tight. Dance footwear is recommended. You may not wear sneakers or street shoes, but you may wear socks. Hermes Dance Sandals or half-soles are a perfect item and are available at Teddy's Shoes at 548 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, 617-547-0443 (or do a web search). I have had my Hermes sandals for about 20 years, and they wear well -- even for outdoor use. Hipscarf is recommended, and you will find that you feel the moves better if you are wearing something on your hips. The first night of class we plan to sell hip scarves ($35-$45), veils ($20). Finger cymbals ($20), my book, Language of the Dance ($20), and the classroom music CD ($15) are REQUIRED.
